Picture Perfect Picnic

The school picnic is a day when all the students at Xavier High School go to the sandy island of Pisiwi for a day of relaxation and a chance to get to know each other better.

On the night before every school picnic, some of the seniors go to the island and get it ready for the coming students the next day. This year the seniors that went were Donny, Michael Mapa, O’Keefe, Amaroy, Victor, Franson and Kevin. They went and cleaned up the place before we came.

Xavier Students Getting Scarred Up

Tattoos are a major part of the culture of many Pacific islands. From the Maori “Moko” which is designed to both distinguish the wearer from other clans and to intimidate enemies, to the Cambodian “Yantra” tattoo, which is used for spiritual protection, tattoos are sometimes the only thing that many Pacific islands have in common. With this in mind, it is a shame that such and ancient and distinguished tradition has become such a point of conflict within Xavier.

Basketball Bombshell - Who Can Defeat Us?

Lately the Xavier Navigators have been beating most of the schools here on Chuuk, FSM and putting on nail-biting performances that have had Xavier crowds going wild on campus.

The girl’s team has never lost to all the teams they have challenged. That is because of the great support of their coach, Jackie T., who has never doubted her team ever since the beginning. They have practiced long and hard ever since the beginning of the basketball season and their reward has always been victory.
