The Campus Ministry Team was begun by a Jesuit
scholastic, and has overseen at various times by other scholastics
or by Jesuit Volunteers. Form 2001-2004 a priest arranged and
coordinated many of the activities, but the group itself drives
the program. There have been various number in membership: in
2001-2002 there were four teaching staff and twelve students,
in 2002-2003 there were four teaching staff a twelve member steering
committee with a larger membership for participation in various
activities. Students are drawn from the Juniors and Seniors classes,
with the 2/3 –1/3. Members of boys and girls vary greatly
year to year. Usually about fifty students apply each year for
the team, which recently has been decided based applications,
interviews, and a series of meetings. Meetings have usually been
held after the Staff meetings on Wednesdays, in the CM Room. CM
oversees many activities, including the retreats and days of prayer,
the community service weekends, also activities which it has co-sponsored
with the Senate at Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Valentine’s
day, and such things and projects s come to mind each year, i.e.
visiting hospital an prison, going on a separate retreat, etc.
Sacristans
The Sacristans are Sophomores and Freshmen who
organize themselves with the help of the School Sacristan in service
of the chapel and related activities. They are responsible for
setting up daily and weekend Masses: assigning lectors, acolytes,
and other servers as needed, taking care of the sacristy in general,
as well as providing a pool of people (ask the help from labor
prefect) who set up the chapel and decorate for the various liturgical
seasons, feasts, and services. Occasionally they sponsor a Mass,
and there are Socials usually once per semester. One of the Jesuit
scholastics, formally named the Sacristan, has usually been responsible
for coordinating their activities.
Choir
Meeting weekly when possible, the choir coordinates
the music for liturgical worship. Rehearsals have sometimes been
Tuesday after school, though they lapsed in the 3rd Quarter of
2003-2004, when many members were also involved in spots activities.
They have been of some use for Friday afternoon Song Practice,
when all students meet immediately after class to practice songs
for upcoming events, and just to learn Xavier tunes.
