Steve
Mwekto, '08 and the Xavier family welcomes male and female applicants
from the Pacific island nations of the Federated States of Micronesia
(Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Yap), the Republic of the Marshall Islands,
and the Republic of Palau.
Xavier administers an entrance exam each year
on the second Saturday of February. Students who do well enough
on the test to be considered for admission are sent a letter of
consideration and a recommendation is requested from the student’s
school. The family of the student is also asked to confirm that
they want their child to attend Xavier and to indicate their reasons
for this. Efforts are made to ensure that ability to pay school
fees is not the sole reason for a qualified student not to come
to Xavier. Each year Xavier seeks to admit approximately 40-45
students based on a set number of students to be admitted from
the different states of the FSM, Palau and the Marshall Islands.
Xavier also considers students who want to transfer in. School
policy has been to accept transfer students into ninth and tenth
grade only. Acceptance of transfer students is based on their
academic qualification and whether there is space available in
the class.
Once an applicant is accepted, the student will
be sent a series of forms to fill out prior to coming to Xavier
including a health certificate, a checklist of things to bring,
calendar of required events to attend including a New Student
Orientation Program, and other forms.
